FAQs

Q: What is OTOSource?

A: OTOSource is a single source online repository for otolaryngology education developed by the Foundation and the Otolaryngology Specialty Societies. The first otolaryngology curriculum was developed by the AAO-HNS/F in 1986 followed by an update (the National Resident Otolaryngology Study Guide, NROSG) in 2002. With the inevitable growth and evolution of our specialty over the last decade, this curriculum required an extensive revision of existing content but also development of new materials. This updated curriculum reflects the new requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, American Board of Otolaryngology along with the changing practice of modern medicine.

Q: Who developed OTOSource?

A: OTOSource was developed by the Comprehensive Curriculum Task Force and Work Group, comprised of representatives from all otolaryngology subspecialty societies. We thank the following contributing organizations for their collaboration and authors for their time and expertise to develop modules for OTOSource.

Q: Who is OTOSource for?

A: The goal of OTOSource is to provide residents, program directors, faculty, and practicing otolaryngologists a standard study guide with teaching tools to assist with board certification, recertification and lifelong learning.

Q. What is in each module outline?

A: Each module outline serves as a roadmap of topics, learning objectives, references, education activities, and surgical videos.

Q:  How do I navigate the online curriculum?

A: The easiest way to navigate the curriculum is to start at the home page, select a “Unit” or search by “Keyword.”
